My mother, Lillian Stiles was tragically killed in her own yard on November 26, 2005 by six pit bull/rottweiler mixed breed dogs. The non-profit organization, Texas Families Against Dangerous Dogs, TXFADD was created by her family and friends to change the laws in Texas so that dog owners could be held accountable for serious injuries or deaths caused by their dogs.
Lillian's family and friends were surprised to find that the laws in Texas did not, in many cases, hold the dog's owner responsible for injuries - even deaths- caused by their dogs. In general, dogs were allowed a "first bite" or free bite in Texas - even if the bite caused serious injury or death! For the safety of the citizens of Texas, this had to be changed.
This website was created to gather dog bite victims along with their family, friends, and other interested parties to build a strong voice to address the Texas legislative process. There are people all over the state of Texas that are outraged by dog attacks and want appropriate changes in the laws dealing with dogs. When you register with TXFADD you will become a part of this effort. We will keep you up to date on our progress and notify you of upcoming legislation alerting you with ways to let your voice be heard on important issues at the capitol in Austin, Texas.
Be sure to REGISTER before you leave.
